Stress

Tension is building up as the dates to my tests are near. This is an important time to gain as much credits as possible before we move on to tougher subjects. Everyone is feeling the heat especially after we heard that there will be no reference during the test.

Went for a pre-employment check-up today. Seems like my right ear is suffering from some loss of hearing for higher frequencies. This is probably due to my previous job as a motorcycle mechanic. Tuning engines in a workshop with no ear protection is an occupation hazard faced by mechanics.

Also confirmed that my blood pressure is high. The doctor prescribed some medicine to lower the pressure and hopefully I can change my lifestyle.

This is probably due to stress at work, school and irregular sleep timing from working night shifts.

Need to observe the situation for some time and see what happens next. hopefully this condition does not affect the company's decision in converting me to direct staff.

The phantom went through some major operations last weekend. changed the tires, chain and sprockets, replaced the stolen 2T container cap, battery and brake pads. Now its riding much better except for the slight screeching from the rear pads.

Next would be to decarbonise the pipe and getting the carburetor settings done.

bad days

Once in a while u get bad days. U go to work but don't feel like working. Especially when u partner up with someone who has different thinking about how work should be done. Plus the stress of having to redo inferior work left by others in the given timeframe.

Took half-day off after I decided that I have had enough sh*t for the day and went home. Didn't want my mood to affect the work in progress. Went to see a doctor the next day and she thinks(at least the impression she gave me) I am just trying to get away from work on a friday.

These people never enquired about our work and decides that we are slackers because we want to take MC. If we actually make a deadly mistake at work, some 300 people may just drop from the skies and killing some more on the ground. We are professional people who knows when we need to take a break before we make a fatal error at work. The stress levels are very high. Time, cost and quality are the bulk of our concern. This is proven when the doctor told me I am having high blood pressure. This was at a normal pressure before I joined the industry.

One thing that I realised also, people who are big sized or fat, are usually percieved as lazy, useless bums who will slack at work at every moment given. This is not true. We have to work harder than the average guy. More effort is spent to do the same action and there are restriction to the minimum workspace required.

We have our ways to get around to do our work, so don't say we are sitting around doing nothing. Sometimes our height requires us to sit down and do work, while average guys can do it squatting down because he is not tall enough.

Anyway, the conversion to direct staff has been accepted and it will probably happen in june. This will take some stress off me although the pay increment is lower than I expected. The benefits are gonna be a great help.

PS: For the record, I will not be going back to the same clinic ever. If I am gonna pay to be served with this kind of attitude, then good riddance to u. No wonder no one goes to this clinic anymore.

more updates

Was at work for the long weekend with half days on saturday and sundays and a full day for vesak day. Now I can officially work OT in the other cell as my leaders didn't minded if they needed the extra help. This mean that I have more one more option if my cell does not have OT to do. For the record, I am currently at 34.5hrs OT.

The OT pay for April came in and I discovered a miscalculation in it. They probably overlooked one of the Sunday I did and gave 1.5x instead of 2x. Luckily, I always make it a point to keep records of OT, leave and working days personally. I highlighted it to my agent and currently trying to chase back the lost amount.

Out of the 5 guys who survived till now, 2 of them got called up by HR for briefing on the conversion to direct staff. I am eagerly waiting to be called by HR for the same thing.

After 10 arduous months, the excitment is hard to hide. We are finally making progress in this new working environment.

Long updates

My friendster profile can't log in already. Friends do help me add comments to divert the peeps who read my profile to here.

For updates, the date of converting to direct staff is near. wish me luck and hope it happens next week. So far, work is ok with some OT to be done but nothing fantastic.

Bought my mum a Pentax optio E40 digital camera for mother's day. she was quite pleased with it.

Changed my bike again. the nighthawk 250 was sold initially to aquire a dirt bike. but the need for transport got the better of me and I haphazardly bought a Phantom150. Still looking for a dirt bike though.

My new ride!
Anyway, at this point of time, I am packed with school and work. Once everything at work is finalised and settled, I will plan some time for other stuff that I want to do. Like riding up to Thailand, taking my car license and buying my first big bike.

A new blog

Finally decided to ditch the old one at friendster. I am having problems logging in and its slow and always hang for no reason. This seems to be a much better place to blog. For older archive, please visit http://lcbear350.blogs.friendster.com/the_chronicle/. For those who noe me, this is the new place which will be updated only. Thanks for looking.
