To err is human.

This is one of those shitty weeks where u have to live life in shit and u have no idea how deep it goes till u lived it once.

I made an error at work which became a *BIG* issue since it was noticed by a supervisor and the unit involved was supposed to be urgently sent out. I went the extra mile to do more work but instead, got shortchanged due to it.

Anyone can make such a mistake and if the same error was caught by other colleagues, it would have been rectified and gone un-noticed with minimum cost incurred. There were more senior guys who made more serious mistakes and incurred much higher cost to the company. I was just unlucky.

This situation, however, made a whole lot of difference to many things. It showed me some very interesting things at work and in life.

The respect for THAT supervisor went down the drain. So much for thinking he was HIGH level, impartial and flexible. He was just another coconut hanging on a tree along the beach. I also confirmed that he had disliked me the moment I joined the department. He is the typical example of "When in power, abuse it". When we do work, he thinks it is of low quality, but he just need a few knocks and thinks it acceptable.

The bad blood between the supervising engineer of my department and me got to the next level. He told me off the next day when he knew of the situation. He asked me to look for the senior who worked with me the previous day, to have a talk. When I walked to the other side to look for the senior, he asked me to walk faster, with a very bad attitude. This act of disrespect is uncalled for.

I made a mistake, but I am not a dog for him to order around. I do not get paid by him but the company. No one wants to make a mistake deliberately. He also thinks of the newer guys as incompetent and always thinks he is far superior than others.

I work with the best interest for the company but if these people continue to run the mid-management, then I think there are other companies out there that will appreciate my work attitude and skills. The higher-management will never understand why the employees come and go all the time.

For the record, my OT for the weekend has been rejected, probably due to the incident.

For this small mistake I made, many people got told off, especially my cell leader, and I wanna apologise to them. They know I work hard and that this is a very small incident which can happen to anyone.

On a lighter note, I got through my flap peening course and passed the practical exam today. Now just need to wait for the certificate to come and I can start working with the newly aquired skills.
